Our Town - The Greatest Hits

94 Tour Prog The 1994 tour was originally scheduled as 'In Your Town - Part 2' for November 1993. Tickets went on sale in July, with extra dates added in September. It wasn't long after the extra dates went on sale that ticket holders were informed that the tour was postponed due to 'recording commitments.'
The tour eventually took place after the release of the Greatest Hits album. Early in the Tour, the news leaked out that the band were splitting up, and two extra shows were added at the Glasgow Barrowlands.

Reading Rivermead - April 30th 1994

No setlist for this gig. This just happens to be one of those gigs that was extra special. I was fortunate enough to be in the second row for this gig, directly in front of Ricky. The gig had three magic moments - one I realised just how good 'The Very Thing' and 'Spencer Tracy' really were, two, I heard the acoustic version of 'Will We Be Lovers' for the first time, and three, during 'Love and Regret', Ricky handed his harmonica to the girl directly in front of me.....

Glasgow Barrowlands - May 20th 1994

And all good things come to an end. This was the final Deacon Blue show. It was clearly going to be an emotional occasion, and it lived up to expectations. I hadn't seen the band for three weeks, so I wasn't sure how much the show would have changed.

The Barrowlands ballroom in Glasgow was packed, hot and sweaty. I managed to get a spot, in the front row, right by security, and directly in front of Graeme. The support band were as bad as I remembered, but then Ricky and Jim came on. There were three major highlights - Goodnight Jamsie, Loaded/Freedom Train, and Town to Be Blamed.

Goodnight Jamsie was a track I'd never expected, but the biggest shock came during Loaded. About 2 minutes into the track, Ricky gestured to the band, and they launched into Freedom Train. The two songs were made for each other.
