
On 21st March 2025, Deacon Blue will release their tenth studio album, The Great Western Road on Cooking Vinyl. 2025 marks 40 years since Ricky Ross met Dougie Vipond, and they started to form Deacon Blue. The songs on the album reflect the journey the band has taken since then. Ricky says "it's just the next part of the adventure and it is as exciting now as it was back in 1988."
The first single from the album Late '88 will be released on the 29th November. It was played for first time the on the Zoe Ball breakfast show on Radio 2 on 26th November. It fondly remembers the care free excitement of those early days. The single has been mixed by Ash Howes.

The album was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios. Ricky Ross and Gregor Philp produced it, and the album was recorded by Matt Butler, who last worked with the band on their 1987 debut album Raintown.
There will be a short run of theatre gigs when the album is released, followed by an extensive arena tour in the Autumn - including the first Wembley Arena gig since 1990, and two nights at the Glasgow Hydro.
